Bearcats Complete Season Sweep of Tigers

W.F. West softball sealed its season sweep of rival Centralia with a tight, 9-7 victory at Fort Borst Park on Wednesday in 2A Evergreen Conference action.

The Bearcats blasted out the gates with six runs in the top of the first, Centralia countered to tie it up in the fourth inning and W.F. West plated one run each in the fifth and sixth innings to pull ahead for good.

Kamy Dacus went the distance in the circle for W.F. West, striking out seven batters while allowing five earned runs on seven hits and a walk to earn the win.

Savannah Hawkins led the Bearcats’ offense, going 3 for 3 with two runs, an RBI and a walk. Avalon Myers was 3 for 4 with two runs and two RBIs and Addi Froschauer drove in three runs on 1 for 1 hitting with a run scored.

The Bearcats out-hit the Tigers 15-7.

Centralia’s offense was fueled by Jimena Luis going 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a run. Ella Orr, Jadyn Hawley and Lauren Wasson each had one hit and scored two runs.

Peyton Smith went the distance in the circle for Centralia, allowing five earned runs on 12 hits and five walks with one K.

Centralia heads to Black Hills on Friday. W.F. West hosts Shelton on Friday.
