Bearcats’ Domination Continues With Win Over Aberdeen

The W.F. West Bearcats extended their unbeaten streak by defeating Tumwater, 3 games to none, and winning total pins with 229 pins.

The Bearcats have now won 17 straight games dating back to the beginning of last season.

It wasn’t easy though. After setting a new school-record, team-average of 182.25 last Monday in their season opener against Shelton, the Bearcats struggled mightily in this one, assistant coach Rich Bunker said.

“The lanes were dry and we struggled to keep the ball on the right side of the head pin with all of our hi-rev girls,” Bunker said.

Tumwater, however, relied on slow straight balls and excellent accuracy in picking up their spares to keep the T-Birds in the match.

“Thankfully, we got our usual great performance out of sophomore Piper Chalmers,” Bunker said.

Chalmers finished with 622 series averaging 207.3, while sophomore Clara Bunker, seeing her first action on the lanes since being cleared for a concussion received during the Bearcat softball team’s district championship win, responded with a 530 series and averaging 176.66.

Next up for the Bearcats are the Aberdeen Bobcats at 3 p.m., Tuesday, at Westside Lanes.
