Bearcats Drop 12 Goals on Grizzlies

Despite W.F. West coach Allen Anderson pulling his starters 30 minutes into the game, the Bearcats’ couldn’t stem their barrage of scoring in a 12-0 road win over Hoquiam Wednesday in a non-league tilt.

“We called a whole bunch of guys up from the second team,” Anderson said. “It was exciting to see some guys get their first varsity minutes.”

Gideon Priest led the attack with four goals and one assist on the night, while Cody Pennington added two goals and three assists. Seven Bearcats in all scored goals.

The Bearcats led 4-0 at the half after Priest notched his hat trick. Pennington scored one first-half goal and dished out two assists, while Isaac Madrigal added an assist.

In the second half, Cameron Kunz made it 5-0 with a PK goal in the 42nd minute. One minute later, Pennington notched a brace, followed by Priest’s fourth goal in the 47th minute on Pennington’s third assist.



At the 49-minute mark, Saul Lima-Perez scored from an assist by Elvis Leal-Perez, then Elvis scored on an assist from Saul in the 51st minute.

Charles Comisky found the back of the net in the 56th minute on an assist from Josh Silva. Silva then got a goal of his own on an assist from Cameron Hinkley in the 58th minutes. Madrigal capped off the scoring in the 76th minute on a PK.

“Our guys played pretty great,” Anderson said. “It was nice to see great chemistry, and it was a great warmup game leading up to league play Friday.”

W.F. West will begin its league slate at home against Shelton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
