Behind another home run by Avalon Myers and drawing 11 walks as a team, the W.F. West High School softball team picked up an 18-0, five-inning victory over Shelton on Wednesday night on the road.

The Bearcats (9-7, 6-5 EvCo) win back-to-back games heading into Friday’s third meeting versus Black Hills. Myers, like she did versus the Wolves 22 hours earlier, launched a two-run home run in the first inning and the rest of the lineup followed suit.

Four runs in the second, three more in the third and eight in the fourth capped the offensive outburst. Myers also roped a double, drove in four runs and drew three walks. Addie Froschauer had three hits and scored three times.

“Everyone else looks towards her,” W.F. West head coach Kevin Zylstra said of Myers. “She sets the tone and the rest follow suit.”

Taylor Tobin fired a no-hitter and struck out 11 in the circle. The sophomore allowed just a walk and the Bearcats took advantage of five Shelton errors.
