The W.F. West boys soccer team made the most of its dip into non-league play Tuesday, blowing out Toledo-Winlock 9-0 at home.

“The boys had a good game,” WFW coach Allen Anderson said. “I filled out the roster and brought up as many JV guys as I could, and got everybody significant playing time tonight, which was nice.”

Cody Pennington came away with a hat trick, scoring two of W.F. West’s three first-half goals and adding a third in the 51st minute. Adian Jaime put away two goals of his own, and set up two more.

The Bearcats began with a three-goal flurry in a seven-minute span in the first half, scoring in the 13th, 16th, and 20th minutes.

The goals kept coming in bunches to start the second half, with W.F. West averaging a goal every two and a half minutes between the 45th and the 60th.

“We created over 20 shots tonight,”Anderson said. “That’s something we’ve been working on in practice, is creating more shots and working ball movement in the final third.”

Elvis Leal Perez, Jeremy Thompson, Damian Hernandez, and Rafael Mendez all joined Pennington and Jaimes on the scoresheet, with Mendez tallying in his first varsity appearance.

W.F. West will head to Rochester on Friday in a return to 2A EvCo play.
