Behind 10 of 14 hits from Addie Froschauer, Avalon Myers and Karlee Coleman, the W.F. West High School softball team piled up a season-high 26 runs to beat Shelton 26-2 in five innings on Monday night at Rec Park.
In their Evergreen Conference opener, the Bearcats (4-2, 1-0 EvCo) jumped out early with a six-run first followed by a seven-spot in the second then doubled the output with an eye-popping 13-run fourth to enact the mercy rule win. In 29 at-bats, W.F. West finished with 14 hits and 21 walks to just three strikeouts.
Myers and Coleman each went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a home run while Froschauer roped a double, triple and drove in six runs. The top-five hitters in the W.F. West lineup crossed home plate at least three times. Taylor Tobin recorded seven strikeouts in the circle to pick up the win.
The Bearcats will take on Centralia in the first of three league meetings on Wednesday at Fort Borst Park.
