Bearcats Score Season-High Series in Win Over Warriors

W.F. West girls bowling team is starting to heat up at the right time. The red-hot Bearcats scored their highest series of the season with a 2,038 total pins series to Rochester’s 1,191 total pins in a 2A Evergreen Conference match at Fairway Lanes Thursday night.

The Bearcats reached this score using eight different varsity bowlers in the match, again showing their depth of talented bowlers throughout their program.

“After a stressful two-pin victory over Black Hills last night, our girls just relaxed a bit and had fun,” W.F. West head coach Don Bunker said. “We were able to use several different bowlers and it is incredible to see how much our team has improved since our first practice this season.”

In Game 1, the Bearcats were led by Piper Chalmers’ 224 game and defeated the Warriors 826 to 560.

“It has been nice to see Piper starting to regain her MVP form as of late,” Bunker said. “We have encountered some tough lane conditions this year at several different houses. It has been good for our bowlers to see some different conditions and learn to make adjustments quicker in games.”

Rochester was led by Taylor Staley who had a nice 150 game.

W.F. West defeated Rochester in Game 2 in total pins 896 to 432.  The Bearcats subbed in freshman Emma Hamilton, who bowled a solid 145 and senior Jayci Harris, who rolled a 166. The Bearcats were led once again by Chalmers’ 211 game, followed up by another outstanding performance by Savannah Hawkins who bowled a 206.

In Baker Game 1, the Bearcats defeated Rochester 160 to 120 and, again, in Game 2, 156 to 77.

“Our coaching staff is really excited to see our rapid development this season,” W.F. West assistant coach Rich Bunker said. “We have a few important league matches left and we hope to carry this momentum into the playoffs.”
