W.F. West turned four hits into seven runs and the Bearcats used a trio of pitchers to fend off Mark Morris for a 7-0 road victory on Friday.

Hunter Lutamn, Gavin Fugate and Logan Moore combined to three-hit the Monarchs, with Lutman striking out six in four innings for the win, Fugate fanning three in two innings and Moore punching out two one inning.

The Bearcats were patient at the plate, drawing six walks and using timely hitting to score baserunners. Fugate, Deacon Meller and Evan Stajduhar all stole a base as well.

Fugate led the way offensively, going 1 for 2 with a double and two RBI. Braden Jones had a base hit and an RBI, Jeron Martin had a double and an RBI and Avery Staloh collected a base hit.

The Bearcats, who led 1-0 through four innings, did most of their damage in the fifth, scoring four runs to create a comfortable cushion. Brock Bunker and Stajduhar each scored twice on the day.

Mark Morris’s Jaden Anderson struck out three batters in four innings of scoreless work. But the Bearcats were able to hammer Kellen Desbiens for three runs, Jackson Rohl for two more and Trenton Lamb for one to secure the win.

W.F. West improves to 2-1 overall after splitting a doubleheader with defending state champion Selah last weekend. The Bearcat next host league foe Shelton at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bearcat Stadium.
