W.F. West outshot Rochester 12-3 and was able to convert three of those dozen shots to goals as the Bearcats came away with a 3-0 victory at home in 2A Evergreen Conference play Tuesday.

“Real pleased with our guys today,” W.F. West coach Allen Anderson said. “Rochester is a fast team with a lot of pressure. I was pleased with our composure and keeping possession for most of the game.”

Adrian Jaimes gave the Bearcats their first goal — and the only one they would need — in the 17th minute from an assist by Elvis Leal Perez.

Ezra Bolin made it 2-0 at the half with a goal from outside the 18 from an assist by Leal Perez in the 33rd minute. Gideon Priest scored another insurance goal in the 57th minute after Leal Perez’ shot was blocked by Rochester’s keeper and spilled out, allowing Priest to punch it in.

Anderson praised his three center mids, Leal Perez, Jaimes and Saul Lima Perez for their performances.

“They play incredibly well together and communicate,” Anderson said. “They dominated the middle third of the field for us, supplying great passes and balls to our wingers.”

Anderson also commended Isaac Madrigal and Cameron Kunz for their defensive efforts.

W.F. West (3-1, 2-0 EvCo) hosts Centralia in the annual rivalry match on Friday. Rochester hosts Aberdeen on Friday.
