Bearcats Stay Unbeaten, Defeat Castle Rock in Chehalis

In more girls tennis action, W.F. West stayed unbeaten this season, dispatching visiting Castle Rock, 5-1, with a singles sweep and two doubles wins. 

The Bearcats are now 3-0, and 1-0 in 2A Evergreen Conference play. 

Singles

  • Claire Kuykendall (WFW) def. Jordyn Madden, 6-1, 6-0
  • Laura Yip (WFW) def. Paige Ogden, 6-1, 6-1
  • Hannah Feaster (WFW) def. Jessica Aylesworth, 6-0, 6-0

“Our top kids are all very experienced,” WFW coach Jack State said. “We had some things to work on and they all did well.”

Doubles

  • Kaylynne Dowling/Mari Ceesay (WFW) def. Kate Loftis/Chelsea Frye, 6-1, 6-1
  • Mayle Cherrington/Myla Langdan (CR) def. Lillian Schmitz/Caydence Edminster, 7-5, 6-2
  • Caitlyn Wood/Emma Weerasinghe (WFW) def. Jo Anne Preston/Ellen Miller 6-0, 6-0

“Our girls knew what they did and changed to, but didn’t adjust,” State said of Schmitz and Edminster. “This will be a good experience for them.”

The Bearcats will take on Shelton next on Monday at home.
