In a strong showing playing for the final time in Chehalis this season, the W.F. West volleyball team defeated Shelton Tuesday in straight sets, 25-15, 25-10, 25-14.
The Bearcats scored 15 points before the Highclimbers managed one in the first set, and never looked back en route to the win. Savannah Hawkins had eight aces, and Chloe Chloupek and Saige Brindle each had four aces. That trio led the Bearcats, which finished with 21 aces as a team.
“We had an incredible night passing, which allowed Chloe to have five kills, Mari to have seven, Julia to have 10, and Morgan to have 11 kills,” Bearcats coach Robert Lucas said.
Hawkins led the Bearcat passers with 18 assists on a well-rounded night for the senior.
The Bearcats take on Aberdeen on the road Thursday for their final game of the regular season.
