In both teams' final match of the regular season, the W.F. West girls tennis team defeated Centralia Wednesday afternoon, 6-0. 

First singles: Mari Ceesay (WFW) def. Olivia Norris (CEN) 6-4, 6-2

Second singles: Viviana Ibanez (WFW) def. Brook Frakes (CEN) 6-1, 6-0

Third singles: Emma Hamilton (WFW) def. Suki Bringman (CEN) 6-2, 6-0

First doubles: Laura Yip/Katelyn Wood (WFW) def. Maya Leckie/Maddie Breckel (CEN) 6-3, 6-0



Second doubles: Ema Weerasinghe/Lillian Hueffed (WFW) def. Sophia Wiley/Aydan Butler (CEN) 6-3, 6-3

Third doubles: Jaime Bradley/Ellie Mittge (WFW) def. Eden Glunt/Camila Garibay (CEN) 6-2, 6-1

“I really like the potential of this team,” WFW coach Jack State said. “We have a small group of seniors and juniors, but a good group of sophomores and freshmen. They’ve been playing really well, they’ve really learned a lot already this year. I love their work ethic and they’re great kids, there’s a lot of potential there.”

The Bearcats (11-4, 9-1 2A EvCo) clinched their third straight league championship, splitting honors with Tumwater this season, which also had just one league loss. Both teams will now head up north to Tumwater and Black Hills to participate in the league championship matches on Monday and Tuesday next week.
