W.F. West boys wrestling had two individual champions, including 10 grapplers placing top-5, as the Bearcats finished second as a team at a tournament in Castle Rock on Saturday.

Class 4A Union from Vancouver won the tournament, while Eatonville was third, Washougal fourth and Kelso fifth.

For the Bearcats, Daniel Matagi (285) and Blake Ely (145) each won their respective weight classes.

Brock Guyette was second at 195 pounds, Cristo Parriott was third at 138, Andrew Penland third at 220 and Tucker Land and Waylen Land were each co-third-place finishers at 170.

Placing fifth was Hunter Arnett at 126, Jacob Fuller at 160 and Tanner Wallin at 182.

“We did OK,” W.F. West coach Jamie Rakevich said. “We were a little shorthanded but it was good to get out and wrestle someone else. Daniel and Blake looked pretty dominant.”

W.F. West hosts its first home match of the season against Aberdeen at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
