Getting each of its seniors into the varsity lineup, the W.F. West girls golf team took down its rival Centralia at Newaukum Golf Course Wednesday afternoon, 93-59.

The Bearcats were led by a couple of underclassmen, with Natalie Eklund earning match medalist honors and scoring 29 points under the Stableford scoring format, and Abby Alexander scoring 21 points to take second, but were otherwise a full senior lineup.

Kendall Rasmussen scored 19 points, Joy Stafford scored 15, Abigail Freeman scored nine points, and Joelle Hawkins scored five.

“It was an exciting night for the Bearcats,” WFW coach Matt Klovdahl said. “We got to celebrate our seniors tonight and have all of them play in the varsity match. It’s always exciting to celebrate these young ladies as they have played golf. Many of them played golf for four years. We’ve been able to watch them grow not only in their golfing abilities, but watch them grow into amazing young women.”

Centralia was led by Emily Wilkerson’s team-high 18 points, with Samanatha Johnston scoring 14, Tess McMurray scoring 10, Ayana Saucedo scoring nine, and Emma Fitzgerald and Lily Ferch scoring eight apiece.

The Bearcats finish out the regular season against Shelton next Wednesday at Alderbrook, while the Tigers take on Tumwater at Riverside on Monday.
