Led wins across the lineup save for one doubles team, the W.F. West girls tennis team defeated Castle Rock Wednesday afternoon in Chehalis, 5-1.
First singles: Mari Ceesay (WFW) def. Anna Rose (CR) 6-3, 6-3
Second singles: Laura Yip (WFW) def. Keige Ogden (CR) 6-2, 6-0
Third singles: Alayna Leal (WFW) def. Brookelyn Ablinger (CR) 6-2, 6-1
First doubles: Katelyn Wood and Emma Hamilton (WFW) def. Joanne Peska and Jordan Maddsan (CR) 6-1, 6-2
Second doubles: Lillian Hueffed and Emma Weerasinghe (WFW) def. Riley Ogden and Ellen Miller (CR) 6-2, 6-0
Third doubles: Halle Hill and Maile West (CR) def. Joy Pluard and Jamie Bradley (WFW) 6-4, 4-6, 6-1
“Nice job by our No. 3 Alayna Leal,” Bearcats coach Jack State said. “It's the second time she’s played singles and she did a really nice job. Lillian and Emma also did a really nice job at second doubles, they picked up their play and came out with a win.”
The Bearcats (1-1) take on Columbia River on the road Thursday at 3:30 p.m. for their next match.
