Bearcats Win Rivalry Match with Tigers

Due to district volleyball playoffs, the W.F. West girls bowling team was a bit short-handed, but still came away with a victory over crosstown rival Centralia, 2231-1523 in total pins.

Playing two Baker format games, W.F. West bowled a 193 as a team in the first game before improving to a 208 in the second. Piper Chalmers again led the Bearcats with a 215 and 221, respectively. Centralia’s Bailee Spriggs bowled a 191 and 208 to lead the Tigers effort.

"Bailee and Piper were going back and forth the whole match,” Bearcats coach Don Bunker said. “It was fun to watch Bailee do so well tonight and actually take a game from Piper. I can probably count on 1 hand the amount of times Piper has lost a head-to-head game in a match. Piper still won the series 436 to 415, but it has been nice to see the strength our EvCo league has at the anchor position this season."

Elsewhere for W.F. West, Tyran Ozretich bowled a 168 and 190, Savanna Hoyt-Siler bowled a 195 and 179, Clara Bunker had a 156 and 221, and Emma Hamilton bowled a 130 in game 1 before Lexi Delisle bowled a 155 for the Bearcats in Game 2 in the second spot.

For the Tigers outside of Spriggs, Jimena Luis bowled a 135 and 127, Calleigh Cameron bowled an 87 and 93, Eden Glunt had a 137 and 115, and Sadie Gutierrez bowled a 72 before finishing with a 117 in Game 2.

For a refresher on Baker format game rules: when each team's lineup consists of 5 players. Each bowler is responsible for 2 frames each, equaling a 10-frame game. The players do not bowl their respective frames back-to-back, instead the lineup bowls in a successive order until all 10 frames are completed.
