Beavers Battle in Tight Loss to Rockets

Tenino led most of the first half but couldn’t maintain momentum against a tough Castle Rock team in a 54-47 loss at home in non-league action on Friday.

“Really good defensive game,” Tenino coach Joe Chirhart said. “They’re a tough squad.”

Senior Takari Hickle led the charge for the Beavers with a team-high 15 points to go with 12 rebounds and nine blocks, falling one block short of a triple-double. Freshman Noah Schow added 14 points, freshman Austin Gonia tallied 13 and freshman Jack Burkhardt pulled down a team-high 13 rebounds.

“My freshmen battled,” Chirhart said. “We did our best. I have no qualms losing to a tough team. I’m cool with us seeing how district-playoff teams look.”

Tenino (4-3) loses its third straight and hosts Toledo on Wednesday.
