Beavers Can’t Come All the Way Back in Menlo

The hole the Tenino boys basketball team dug itself on the road Monday proved to be just a bit too much, as the Beavers fell 49-44 to 1B Willapa Valley in a non-league matchup.

The Vikings jumped out to a 24-9 lead through the end of the first quarter, and led by 17 at halftime. After managing just 14 points in the opening half, Tenino sprung for 30 in the second, while holding Willapa Valley to single digits in the final three quarters, but ran out of time on its comeback attempt.

Noah Schow led all scorers with 24 points, but Jaxson Gore had the next-highest total for Tenino at just six. Brody Noonan led the way on the boards with nine rebounds, and Will Feltus had three assists.

Tenino will get another test against a 1B side Wednesday, when it hosts Mossyrock.
