The Tenino girls basketball team couldn’t find a rhythm offensively on Tuesday, as the Beavers lost 43-27 to Elma.
Tenino scored nine or fewer points in all four quarters, scoring six or fewer in two of them.
Brianna Asay finished with 10 points, while Holly Throen added eight and Keira Laughlin scored three. Kylie Gonia, Chloe Grayless, and Brynn Williams tallied two points each.
Tenino coach Kirsi Gofinch acknowledged that it was a frustrating night on the offensive end, but she also commended the Beavers’ effort on defense and on the glass.
Thoren finished with 18 rebounds, including 12 offensive rebounds, while Asay tallied 11 to post a double-double. Laughlin also finished with 11, and Williams posted seven.
“I’m really proud of how well they played,” Gofinch said. “I love how hard they’re playing defensively and how hard they’re pushing each other.”
Tenino (3-10, 0-2 1A Evergreen) will look to bounce back and get its first league win when it hosts Hoquiam on Thursday.
