Beavers Drop Another to Grizzlies

The Tenino girls basketball team fell in league action to Hoquiam Thursday night at home, 48-18.

The Beavers couldn’t carry over a strong start into the rest of the game after scoring the first six points of the game, scoring in single digits in each frame.

“We struggled to make shots after that strong start,” Beavers coach Scott Ashmore said. “Hoquiam is very good inside with their post players and Tenino posts got into foul trouble in the first half. Hoquiam switched to a zone press in the second half and we struggled with numerous turnovers.”

Though the Beavers were sound defensively, the Grizzlies dominated the glass, leading to lots of second chance points. Ashmore praised Jaeleen Woodward for strong play on defense, and she added four points.

The Beavers (3-10) take on Stevenson next in Tenino at 2:30 p.m.
