With a balanced scoring effort all the way around, and Cheyenne Rossow recording a brace, the Tenino girls soccer team had a successful trip to the beach, defeating Ilwaco, 8-0, Saturday after the long trip west.

The Beavers (1-1-1) got goals from seven girls, with all but one goal in the first half. Rossow netted goals in the 18th and 26th minutes, Abagail Archibald opened the scoring in the 15th minute, Elizabeth Diskin and Nicole Fralick added goals in the 29th and 36th minutes, respectively, and Rilee Jones and Kami Oliveira scored in the 37th and 39th minutes.

Sophomore Allison Kalkus scored her first varsity goal in the 58th minute of the second half to round out scoring.

“Nice to come out to the beach and get a win,” Beavers coach Dave Montgomery said. “The girls played really hard the last several matches, felt a little unlucky to not get a goal in our first match … but we made a lot of adjustments after our loss to King’s Way, so it was really nice to put together everything we’ve been working on over the last few weeks.”

The Beavers will look to keep it rolling at home against Seton Catholic on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
