The Tenino girls basketball team’s losing streak extended into its league opener on Thursday, as the Beavers fell to Montesano 62-22 on the road.
The Beavers (2-8) have now lost eight games in a row after winning their first two games of the season.
“It was a rough, physical game,” Tenino coach Kirsi Gofinch said. “Montesano has a great, strong team and they definitely let everyone play.”
The Bulldogs built a 16-point lead after just one frame and pushed it to 19 at the break. They doubled that advantage in the third by outscoring Tenino 22-3 in the third.
Brianna Asay led the Beavers with six points and four rebounds, while Holly Thoren scored five points and grabbed six boards.
Brynn Williams also hauled in six rebounds and scored four points, while Chloe Grayless had five rebounds and scored a pair of points.
“I’m just proud of how they kept fighting and playing hard until the end,” Gofinch said.
Tenino is back on the road on Friday at the Bear Creek School in Redmond.
