Beavers Punch Back With Convincing Win Over Wildcats

Two days removed from a disappointing loss to rival Rainier, Tenino regained its composure and delivered a 52-36 defeat to visiting La Center on Thursday in non-league action.

Senior star Ashley Schow scored a game-high 21 points and the Beavers supporting cast brought the offense and defense in a convincing victory over District 4 foe La Center.

In what has plagued the Beavers all season, so far, they came out slow, leading just 11-7 after one quarter. But an 18-12 advantage in the second half, and a 19-8 run in the third quarter, provided enough fuel.

“We couldn’t make shots in the first half,” Tenino coach Scott Ashmore said. “The second half, we had more energy and shots started falling.”

Seniors Grace Vestal and Abby Severse each chipped in 11 points, while Alivia Hunter provided six.

“The seniors put in a lot of time the past two years in the offseason,” Ashmore said. “All we do is work on shooting and confidence.”

Tenino (2-1) will look to keep its momentum churning when it hosts Class 2B Adna in a non-league match at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
