Beavers Still Searching for First Victory

Tenino struggled to contend with Hoquiam’s strong serving as the Beavers fell in straight sets (25-10, 25-12, 25-11) on senior night Tuesday.

“I thought the girls competed the first two sets,” Tenino coach Wanda Blanksma said. “They hung in there. We just didn’t have an answer for their servers. The third set, we ran out of gas.”

Four seniors played their final home match for the Beavers: Malika Slassi, Brittany Maynard, Raelynn Wilson and Abbigail Coty.

Maynard had her best match of the season, smashing five kills, while Slassi was commended for her setting and all-around effort.

“They’re great kids and they provided a lot of leadership for the younger kids,” Blanksma said.

Tenino gets back into action when it travels to Eatonville on Thursday.
