With most of the varsity roster intact off a double digit winning season a year ago, the Wolves got out of the gates on the right foot with a 71-59 verdict over the Tornados on Monday night in Yelm.

Black Hills (1-0) used a 42-point opening half to take a commanding lead and never looked back. James Morgan and Peyton Faught each led the Wolves with 16 points, two of five players to end up in double figures.

Jaxsen Beck chipped in 13 while brothers Quinton and Talon Morrill each added 11. The Wolves buried nine 3s in the contest, but went 7-of-14 from the free throw line.

Black Hills plays on back-to-back-to-back nights and the middle game is against Castle Rock on Tuesday.
