Blazers Drop Straight Sets to Highline

Centralia College responded well with a brand-new lineup but the Trailblazers couldn’t hold off Highline, falling in straight sets (25-17, 25-17 25-18) on the road Wednesday in Northwest Athletic Conference West Region play.

Blazers coach Susan Gordon said the team played well with a new lineup that was put together just the day before, spurred by an injury which caused her to mix things up.

“The girls bought in and played very well,” Gordon said.

Ayzha Fuller stepped us as a second setter, allowing Mossyrock alum Andee Nelson to get outside and swing.

Nelson led the Blazers with 11 kills and 12 assists. Toledo alum Kate Demery, along with Casey Wentz and Solana Stanley, all put up solid performances as well, Gordon said.

“Highline has a number of strong hitters so it is hard to shut them all down,” Gordon said.

Centralia College (3-12, 1-6 conference) hosts Tacoma at 6 p.m. on Friday.
