Blazers Split Shutouts Against Lane

The Centralia College baseball team capped off its busy weekend against Lane College with a split, falling 1-0 before winning 7-0 in seven innings.

The Titans stifled the Blazers the whole way through Game 1, with three pitchers allowing just one hit apiece. Ian Bauer matched them through seven innings but walked two batters to lead off the eighth, and while Ryan Henrickson didn’t allow a hit, he let both runners move up on a wild pitch, before the Titans squeezed home the decisive run.

The offensive issues wouldn’t last long into Game 2, as Tyler Harries and Bennett Comes hit singles in the bottom of the first inning and Case Taggart launched his NWAC-leading eighth home run of the season to make it 3-0 in a hurry.

The Blazers added two runs in the third inning and two more in the fourth, while Justin Morgan spun six scoreless frames to earn the win.

CC will get its biggest test of the season yet next weekend, going north for a doubleheader against No. 1 Tacoma next Saturday before returning home for two more against TCC on Sunday.
