Bob Anderson : 1933-2021

Bob Anderson, 88, a lifetime Rochester resident, passed away on June 9, 2021. He was born on the family homestead on February 15, 1933, in Rochester, Wash., to Frank and Ada (McCash) Anderson. He was raised and educated in Rochester, Wash. 
Bob served in the United States Air Force in Teletype Communications from 1952- 1956. He then worked for the Department of Natural Resources for 30 years. On September 17, 1966, Bob married Darlene Keehn in Olympia, Wash. They were married almost 50 years before her death on July 19, 2016. 
Bob loved the Lord and was a member of Rochester Life Assembly and was also a 50-year member of the Grange at the Violet Prairie location. Bob was an avid farmer and loved raising cattle and horses. He enjoyed haying for himself as well as for many others. He had his own sawmill and cut lumber for many projects. He also loved to pull out the old apple press every fall and let the family make homemade apple cider. 
Bob is survived by his brothers, Patrick (Mary) Anderson and Dan (Eilene) Anderson; sisters, Violet Newby, Jeanette Whiteman, and Kelly (Roy) Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. 
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Darlene Anderson; his daughters, Dawn Anderson and Melissa Anderson; his brother, Don Anderson; his sister, Alice Goodwin; and his parents. 
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at 2 PM at Grand Mound Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
