Boys XC: Centralia’s Devin Harrison Crushes the Course

Posted

Centralia junior Devin Harrison catapulted out of the starting line, jumped to an early lead and never looked back, besting the runner up by 22 seconds to capture the boys race at a dual meet with W.F. West on Wednesday at Stan Hedwall Park.

Harrison and the Tigers were running in their first meet of the season and it didn’t show as Harrison finished in 18:34.43 to beat runner-up and W.F. West junior Henry Jordan (18:56.80). The Bearcats had competed at the Capital Invite on Saturday.

“(Jordan) was really good,” Harrison said. “He was on my tail the entire time. That’s what kept me going. I think I could have ran a little bit better but I’m still happy with what I got. It is the first meet; it doesn’t have to be the best but it should be a really good standard to run off of.”

Other top-10 finishers included:

  • Jaysen Miles, third, W.F. West,19:58.46
  • Damian Carroll, fourth, W.F. West, 20:37.23
  • Ezra Birchard, fifth, W.F. West, 20:49.48
