Brooks Returns in Vikings’ First Game in Almost a Month

Posted

Playing in its first game since Dec. 15, the Mossyrock girls basketball team thumped Muckleshoot Tribal at home, 68-39, in Hailey Brooks’ return to the court Saturday afternoon.

The Vikings (6-2, 2-0 1B CVL) got 15 points and eight rebounds from Brooks in her return, after the junior had not suited up for them during the first third of the season.

Payton Torrey continued to do Payton Torrey things, scoring a game-high 27 points, collecting 11 rebounds and dishing out five assists. Fellow guard Caelyn Marshall scored 20 points for the Vikings, as well.

“We were itching to get back in action, and they came out fired up,” Vikings coach Autumn Moorcroft said.

Mossy will get back into league play next week when they head to Willapa Valley on Wednesday, before a short non-league hiatus against Napavine on Friday, where they will honor former coach Gary Stamper during the game.
