It wasn’t the wind causing problems for Centralia City Light customers on Monday, but rather a car that crashed into a power pole in the 1300 block of North Pearl Street, knocking out power for 1,160 customers.
The outage lasted approximately 30 minutes for most of the impacted customers, said Centralia City Light General Manager M.L. Norton. Three customers remained without power for three to four hours while linemen worked to replace the destroyed power pole.
Power was completely restored by 8 p.m. on Monday.
“Car versus pole accidents are one of the reasons we have linemen,” Norton said. “They did their jobs and they did them well.”
The Centralia Police Department did not respond to requests for information on the crash by The Chronicle’s afternoon press deadline.
