The Winlock girls basketball team had a tough time getting the ball in Toutle Lake’s net and keeping it out of its own Wednesday, falling to the Ducks 70-19 in Central 2B League action.
Toutle Lake outscored 14-5 in the first quarter, then proceeded to do better offensively in each of the three following periods. Winlock, meanwhile, never managed more than eight points in a quarter.
“We had difficulty containing Toutle’s three-point shooters, and had difficulty shooting ourselves,” Winlock coach Dracy McCoy said.
Kindyl Kelly had eight points to lead the Cardinals. Kiya Peppers finished with five points and four rebounds, and Adriana Garcia led the guests on the glass with five boards.
Toutle Lake freshman Lainey Dean led all scorers with 20 points.
Winlock (2-4, 0-3 C2BL) will play at league-leading Adna on Friday.
