Cardinals Roll Past Eagles

Led by Kindyl Kelly’s 34-point, 10-rebound double-double, the Winlock girls basketball team defeated Pope John Paul II Saturday afternoon in non-league action, 63-38.

Kelly also added five steals and five assists in a monster performance.

All players played a lot of minutes this afternoon,” Cardinals coach Dracy McCoy said. “It was great to see the team get some confidence back. Freshman guard Callie Geehan and eighth-grader Kendall Guenther both contributed by playing a number of minutes and providing strong all around play. Angie Gil had a strong all around game, as well as Kindyl Kelly with a double-double. Kelly had set some goals for herself that she was able to meet. I saw the team gel together this afternoon, which is great to see.”

McCoy also praised a short-handed Eagles squad for playing the full 32 minutes strong despite some setbacks.

The Cardinals take on Toutle Lake next on the road Wednesday.
