The Winlock baseball team eclipsed its win total from last season in an afternoon Monday, downing Morton-White Pass twice in a doubleheader, 10-6 and 12-2 in five innings.

Both wins came on the back of big innings, with the Cardinals going ahead for good in Game 1 with a seven-run fifth, and exploding for nine in the fourth in Game 2 to push the game to run-rule territory.

Kyrin Meehan led the way in the first game, going 1 for 2 with a pair of walks and a pair of RBIs at the plate, while also earning the win on the mound with 10 strikeouts and three earned runs allowed in four innings pitched.

In Game 2, James Cusson took the starring role, punching out 11 in a shortened complete game, while finishing 2 for 2 at the plate with a double, two runs scored, and two more driven in. Meehan did his damage with his eyes, looking his way to three walks and scoring twice. The Cardinals managed just four runs as a team, but drew 19 free passes.

Christian Uhri and Emilio Martinez both added two-hit outings in the first game.

Keaton Thompson finished the day 4 for 5 at the plate for MWP, and also struck out nine in a four-inning start in Game 1. Brecken Pelletier racked up three hits across the two games, and through two shutout innings to start Game 2 before the wheels fell off the T-Wolves’ bullpen in the latter innings.

Winlock is due to host a rivalry matchup against Toledo on Wednesday, while MWP will face Toutle Lake.
