Addison Hall, Madison Vigre and Charlie Carper combined for 33 total rebounds and Winlock used a big second quarter to retake the lead from the Loggers for good in a 39-36 road victory in Central 2B League play on Monday.

Hall finished with 17 points, nine rebounds and five steals, while Vigre added a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds and Carper hauled in 12 boards herself as the Cardinals picked up a crucial league win.

“It was a great atmosphere,” Winlock coach Dracy McCoy said. “They had a lot going on and it felt like a district atmosphere. But our girls came ready to play.

Winlock fell behind 12-6 early on then broke off a 15-4 run in the second quarter — thanks in part to two big 3-pointers by Kindyl Kelly — to cut the deficit heading into the locker room at the half.

“Our goal was to get to the rim, get them in foul trouble and we did,” McCoy said. “We stayed focused and followed the game plan. Vigre had a huge game and was real confident inside. And Maia Chaney played great defense.”

Onalaska was led by Callie Lawrence’s 16 points and game-high 15 rebounds, including eight offensive. Morgan Hamilton added nine points, Dakota Hamilton pulled down seven rebounds and Alex Cleveland-Barrera hauled in six boards.

Winlock plays host to Rainier in another league battle on Wednesday, while the Loggers look to rebound against Toutle Lake on Tuesday.
