Alexis Castillo-Corona continued his scoring tear with a hat trick and Rochester boys soccer held off a late Shelton surge for a 4-2 road victory Tuesday in 2A Evergreen Conference play.

After a first-half battle, Castillo-Corona scored his first goal in the 32 minute from an assist by Erik Vazquez-Valentine to put the Warriors up 1-0.

Eduardo Francisco made it 2-0 with a goal in the 38th minute, assists by Inigo Simon-Palmeiro to give Rochester a two-goal advantage heading into the break.

Castillo-Corona notched his brace in the 57th minute from an assist by Gabe Stuard, then secured his hat trick with a PK goal in the 64th minute to close out Warriors’ scoring.

The Highclimbers scored goals in the 75th and 78th minutes but the game was already in Rochester’s hands at that point.

“We pulled up a couple JV players and got a couple varsity guys some playing time who don’t get a lot of minutes, which was good,” Rochester coach Matt Ashton said. “We played well and it took us a while to get going.”

Rochester next hosts Centralia on senior night Thursday.
