The Centralia College women’s basketball team rallied back from a double-digit deficit to take a lead late at Green River on Wednesday, but the Trailblazers’ comeback ultimately fell short in a 51-46 loss.
After trailing by as many as 14 points against the Gators, the Trailblazers rallied back to take a 45-43 lead with just over five minutes to play. From that point on, Green River ended the game on an 8-1 run.
Ella Baumgartner scored a team-high 19 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and blocked two shots, while Abi Lundblad posted a 16-point, 14-rebound double-double while also blocking three shots.
Kate Carpenter also had a big night inside, grabbing 15 rebounds and blocking five shots, and she also added seven assists and two points.
The women’s team (4-13, 1-3 NWAC) will be back in action at home on Saturday, when it plays the first of a doubleheader against South Puget Sound.
Men’s basketball can’t keep up against Green River
The Centralia College men’s team fell behind early and never recovered in the other game of the CC-Green River doubleheader, as the Trailblazers fell 94-58.
Clay Morgan scored a team-high 12 points off the bench, while Shay Brannon added 11 points and eight rebounds.
Andrew Collins scored eight points while also logging seven assists, six rebounds, and three blocks. Kevin Williams and Reilly McIlraith both scored six points, and Quinton Robinson recorded five points and five rebounds.
The men will also be back home on Saturday against South Puget Sound for the second game of the doubleheader.
