The Centralia College volleyball team ended up on the right end of a back-and-forth thriller Wednesday night, as the Trailblazers topped South Puget Sound 23-25, 28-26, 25-20, 20-25, 16-14.
Cadence Gumanas led the way defensively with 23 digs, while Avery Starr added 14 and Ryli Gray tallied 12. Starr also finished with 51 assists, setting the table for Paige Miller, who led the team with 23 kills, and Morgan Rogerson, who logged 15. Gumanas also finished with 10 kills.
With the win, the Trailblazers (17-11, 7-4 NWAC) avenge their previous loss to SPSCC, and they take sole possession of second place in the NWAC West Region.
They can seal that spot and clinch a berth to the NWAC Tournament with a road win on Friday at Pierce
Soccer season come to an end
Both the CC men’s and women’s soccer seasons came to an end on Wednesday, as both teams lost at Clark College.
Maylania Mikaele scored the only goal in the women’s 4-1 loss, while Brooklynn Alkire had three saves in net and Kalei Garcia also got a save.
In the men’s 5-1 loss, Jamison Perkins got on the board in the second half, while Rico Ewell and Neftali Arellano combined for 11 saves.
The men’s team finishes its season 2-15-3 and 2-11-2 in NWAC play, while the women finish 9-6-1 and 5-6-1 in league play.
