Posted

The Centralia College baseball team bounced back from a pair of losses to Olympic on Saturday by sweeping a doubleheader against the Rangers on Sunday, salvaging a split of the four-game set.

Olympic won both games at Bob Peters Field on Friday by one run apiece, including a 6-5 win in 12 in the first matchup.

The Rangers took the lead in the first inning of Game 3, but Liam Karlson was able to settle in on the mound. He ended up pitched a complete game, allowing five hits and the one run while striking out seven.

The offense gave him enough support, scoring twice in the fourth on an RBI single from Nolan Christ and an RBI groundout from Isaiah Anzaldua, and Reuben Ellison hit a bases-clearing triple in the seventh to add some insurance.

Jack Skelley hit a sacrifice fly and Jesse Mazziotti hit an RBI single in the third inning of Game 4 to give CC the lead, and Christ added an RBI single in the seventh to push the lead back to two after Olympic got one back in the fourth.

Lincoln McVicker went six and two-thirds on the hill, allowing seven hits and one run while walking four and striking out eight.

The Trailblazers (11-15, 2-2 NWAC) will be back at home on Saturday to host a doubleheader against Lower Columbia College.
