Centralia Arcade-Bar Sets Tentative July 7 Opening Date

Pinball wizards and retro arcade geeks rejoice: Centralia’s first downtown retro arcade-bar is opening soon.

Owners of Insert Coin, the soon-to-be retro arcade that will feature about 100 cabinets and moonlight as a drinking establishment, are planning for a tentative soft opening date Wednesday, July 7, and an official opening on July 9, they told The Chronicle this week.

The business, located at 309 North Tower Ave., is looking to be another staple and family-friendly establishment within Centralia’s historic downtown.

“We’re really excited to be part of people’s summer plans, especially with our economy opening back up. I think people want to get out with their families and do something fun,” said co-owner Keli Coleman.

Contractors are currently busy putting the finishing touches on the building. Flooring will be installed within the week and an installed self-serve beer wall was seeing its final touches when The Chronicle visited on Thursday. The business is largely just waiting on its food and liquor permits to be approved before opening the doors.

Within the arcade room, a large graffiti mural with the words “INSERT COIN” are sprayed on the wall, laced with images of Mario and Donkey Kong, courtesy of well-known Seattle graffiti artist Sam “Sneke” Swanson, co-owner Dan Coleman said.

Keli Coleman said they recently finished their final menu, which she said will feature pizza, burgers, tachos (tater tot nachos) and some other bar favorites.

They’re also currently hiring cooks, bartenders, dishwashers and other positions. Applications can be found over at their Facebook page, facebook.com/insertcoinwa.

The establishment can also be found on social media applications TikTok and Instagram. A full list of games can be found on their website, insertcoinwa.com.
