Centralia Baker Twice Featured on Food Network to Hold Grand Opening of Storefront

A new downtown Centralia storefront will have its grand opening this Saturday morning.

Already, the business has been up-and-running long enough to become a household name in Lewis County: Sweet Dough Cookie Co.

Ashlee Shirer, owner of the company, made The Chronicle’s front page twice in the last two years for her appearances on the Food Network show, “Christmas Cookie Challenge.” Both times, she went up against other bakers in a cookie-making competition, and both times she won the challenge and walked away with a check for $10,000.

She already works full time as a baker out of her commercial kitchen in Chehalis, where she sells cookies online by the dozen for events such as baby showers and weddings. Her sugar cookies are expertly decorated, large and fluffy.

Now, through the opening of her downtown Centralia storefront, Shirer will share cookie-making workshops, pop-up cookie sales, events and more. The Sweet Dough Cookie Co. ribbon cutting will be held on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 9 a.m. at 602 W. Main St., Centralia, and the business will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. that day.
