The Centralia College softball team took two against Umpqua Community College on Saturday, as the Trailblazers took down the Riverhawks 10-0 and 20-12 in a pair of run-rule victories.
Ava Hernandez was in control in the circle in Game 1, allowing just two hits and striking out five in five shutout innings. The Trailblazers scored two in the second to get on the board and added another in the third, but they blew the game open with seven runs across the fourth and fifth to push it to run-rule territory.
Chase White went 2 for 4 and drove in three runs, while Macey Fluetsch also collected two hits and drove in two. Gracie Schofield also had two hits and two RBIs, while Grace Huber, Olivia McKinstry, and Graci Bonney-Spradlin each drove in a run of their own.
The offense continued to roll in Game 2, as they plated 13 runs across the second and third and added seven more across the fourth and fifth.
Umpqua’s offense came to life in the second game as well, as the Riverhawks were able to get 12 runs on the board in the first four innings, but Hernandez entered the game in relief and didn’t allow a run over the final inning and two-third.
Huber had an excellent game at the plate, as she hit three doubles and drove in six to highlight her four-hit day. Emma Hoffmeister added two hits and drove in four, and Rachel Gray went 2 for 4 and also brought home a pair.
Schofield, Fluetsch, White, and Natalie Loose each added an RBI, and Bonney-Spradlin collected two hits in the nine-hole.
