After stellar spring seasons, Centralia College’s Jayda Thomas and Lane Community College’s Lucas Hoff were named as two of the eight NWAC Spring Baden Athletes of the Year at the 2025 NWAC Hall of Fame Banquet & Ceremony last week in Vancouver.
Thomas won her second-straight NWAC Championship, carding a 150 across two rounds to win by seven strokes.
Across the entire season, Thomas averaged a score of 79.6, nearly two full strokes better than the next closest golfer, according to the NWAC’s release.
She was one of just four women’s golfers to shoot under 80 in any round this season, and she did it three times.
With Thomas leading the way, the Trailblazers finished fifth as a team at the NWAC Championships.
Hoff, a W.F. West alum, made his mark at the Multi-Event Championships, winning the NWAC Men’s Decathlon Title with 6,533 points across the two-day event.
He set a personal record in all but one event, and he overcame a deficit of more than 160 points on Day 2 to guarantee a first-place finish with two events left.
As a result, Hoff was named the NWAC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week.
Hoff was just as impressive at the NWAC Track and Field Championships a few weeks later, winning the pole vault with a new personal record of 4.92 meters (16 feet, 1.75 inches) and earning All-American honors.
He also placed fifth in the javelin with a throw of 56.63 meters (185 feet, nine inches), and he placed eighth in the high jump by clearing the bar at 1.79 meters (5 feet, 10.5 inches).
His 24.5 points helped Lane secure a second-place finish.
He was named the Men’s Field Athlete of the Meet and the Men’s High Point Athlete of the Meet.
