Centralia Downtown Association to Host ‘Love Where You Live’ Block Party Showcasing South Tower Businesses Wednesday

At 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, the Centralia Downtown Association (CDA) will host its quarterly block party at The Juice Box.

The event will highlight businesses on South Tower Avenue and will include a silent dessert auction, pub trivia and prizes. The theme for the event will be “Love Where You Live” in the spirit of Valentine’s Day, with all proceeds going toward downtown Centralia beautification, including the annual flower baskets.

There is no cost to attend the event.

Pub trivia at the event will be focused around the rich history of Centralia, as well as pop culture and local business knowledge, provided by the Centralia Downtown Association’s Historic Committee and South Tower businesses.

The association’s beautification fund is allocated to cover the flower baskets that bring vibrancy to the downtown corridor, as well as clean up projects around downtown. In January the CDA covered the cost for graffiti removal on five downtown businesses, and has plans to make the formula used in the removal readily available to businesses if any future graffiti is found.

“We received a lot of positive feedback after the graffiti removal,” said MacKenzie McGee, executive director of the Centralia Downtown Association. “Our downtown looks so beautiful now and we’re excited to be able to use this product again in the future since it’s the most effective we’ve seen so far. It goes a long way towards keeping our area beautiful.”

Funds are also needed to add more tables to the daily utilized Pine Street Plaza and umbrellas to provide summertime shade.

Any funds raised may also go toward supplies for the CDA’s annual spring cleaning event on May 6 and 7, during which volunteers help to beautify the town before the busy summer season.
