Sadie Mecham, a senior at Centralia High School, recently competed in the USA Gymnastics Level 10 Regional Championship meet and qualified to compete at nationals.
This is the first year in the last 10 years that Black Hills Gymnastics had girls qualify for nationals.
Sadie competed against the top gymnasts from six states, including Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Oregon, Montana and Washington, and earned a spot on the Region 2 All-Star Team, which will compete at Nationals in Salt Lake City, Utah, on May 9.
Sadie has been competing in gymnastics for over 11 years. She trained for eight years at Thorbeckes Gymnastics Center in Chehalis, where she competed in Levels 3 through 7. Then, three years ago, she transferred to Black Hills Gymnastics in Lacey where she continued to compete in Levels 7-10. Level 10 is the highest level of achievement in youth gymnastics and the only level that provides a national-level competition for gymnasts to demonstrate their hard work and dedication.
Sadie is looking forward to concluding her senior season by competing at nationals and representing Black Hills Gymnastics and Region 2 on the All-Star Team.
