Centralia Man Faces Felony DUI Charge

A Centralia man is now facing a felony DUI charge after results came back from a blood draw apparently showing that his alcohol concentration was over the .08 limit at the time it was taken during a traffic stop in August 2019.

Daniel G. Price was reportedly unable to complete a blood alcohol content (BAC) test after he was pulled over on suspicion of driving under the influence on Aug. 5, 2019, so a warrant was issued for a blood draw. Blood results later showed that Price’s level was approximately 0.11.

While DUIs are normally a gross misdemeanor charge, the charge can be elevated to a Class B felony — punishable by up to 10 years in prison and fines up to $20,000 — if the defendant has three or more prior DUI offenses within the past 10 years on their record, or has a vehicular assault while under the influence conviction on their record.

The affidavit of probable cause states that Price has a first-degree negligent driving conviction from August 2017 and DUI convictions from January 2019, March 2020 and April 2020.

Price appeared in Lewis County Superior Court on March 9 after having completed a treatment program out of Thurston County. Judge J. Andrew Toynbee set bail at $10,000 unsecured, meaning that Price is not jailed and doesn’t owe any of the bail amount unless he misses a court date. He is scheduled for an arraignment hearing on March 18.
