Centralia ‘outplayed’ in rematch versus Elma

A year after battling in an overtime thriller, the Tigers were unable to gather the same momentum and lost for the second straight Week 1, 34-20 on Friday night on the road.

Elma used 28 points in the middle two periods to pull away. Centralia (0-1) was paced by Kellen Rooklidge with 86 yards while Terrell Sanders tossed a 45-yard touchdown pass to Donovan Galloway.

“At the end of the day, they outplayed us,” Tigers head coach Jon Rooklidge said. “We had some good moments too… We had some moments where a play or two would have changed the outlook of the game.”

Centralia was held to nine first downs and completed just four passes. The Tigers will open their home slate and play a regular season game on the new turf at Tiger Stadium next week against R.A. Long.
