Just after 5 p.m. on March 15, Centralia police officers responded to a person in crisis who appeared to want to jump off of the East Sixth Street viaduct in north Centralia.

The span goes over the railroad tracks and connects to the Logan District.

Four to five officers reportedly tried to talk to the person for about 10 minutes before the subject lost their balance but was able to catch themselves on the viaduct railing.

Officers successfully pulled them over the railing to safety at approximately 5:17 p.m., according to Sgt. Patty Finch.

The person was transported to the hospital for treatment.
