Centralia’s Harrison, O’Dell Win Races in Meet With Bearcats

In a strong early season showing, Centralia cross country runners Devin Harrison and Elyse O’Dell took home wins in a home meet at Borst Park against W.F. West Wednesday afternoon.

Harrison led the charge for the boys, running a 17:39.7, beating second-place finisher Jaysen Miles of W.F. West by nearly two minutes. Miles was the lone other boy to finish under 20 minutes with a 19:22.6. 

Evan Thummel of Centralia finished third for the boys, running a 20:30.5.

For the girls, the freshman O’Dell won her first varsity race of the year in 23:21.7. She was followed by W.F. West’s Mercedes Ricks, who ran a 23:32.8, and Keira Jones of Centralia, who finished third at 24:57.0. 



Freshmen Lead Beavers at Evergreen Meet

Paced by a pair of freshmen, the Tenino cross country team had a solid outing at a 1A Evergreen Meet in Hoquiam Wednesday afternoon. 

For the girls, freshman Haley Huber led the way for the Beavers with a fifth-place finish, running a 24:13, just behind Elma’s Georgia Burkhart for fourth. Hoquiam’s Jane Roloff won the race in 20:17. 

On the boys side, the Beavers’ top finisher was another freshman, Justin Schlesner, who ran a 20:20 for 16th. Montesano’s Aric Jacklin won the race in 17:51.
