For the Cesar Chavez Day of Service, Cispus Learning Center will host a willow planting event from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on March 29.
Cispus is located at 2142 Cispus Road near Randle.
Volunteers are welcome to take part and cut and plant willow branches near Yellowjacket Creek. Supplies are limited, so volunteers are asked to bring their own loppers, mallets and work gloves. Participants are encouraged to dress for the outdoors and creek crossings, Cispus stated in a news release.
Cesar Chavez Day is a U.S. federal commemorative holiday, proclaimed by President Barack Obama in 2014. The holiday celebrates the birth and legacy of the civil rights and labor movement activist Cesar Chavez on March 31.
